Geometry with Algebraic Topics Honors 

Credit gained: 1 high school credit upon successful completion

Prerequisites

ACS Athens students must meet the following prerequisites to be eligible for course enrollment:

  • 8th-grade students, currently enrolled in Algebra 1(8) completing the first semester with a grade of A and above or achieving a grade of A-  and above in the first-semester exam.
  • 9th-grade students, currently enrolled in Geometry with Algebraic Topics Regular with a semester grade of B and above.

Course description

This course is a study of topics in Geometry with Algebra. Topics in Geometry include: angles, parallel lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, areas and volume. Algebraic topics include: algebraic expressions, factoring, rational expressions, linear & quadratic equations, systems of non-linear equations, graphing in the coordinate plane, right angle and non-right angle trigonometry. Algebraic skills will be incorporated in all topics of Geometry. Topics similar to Geometry with Algebraic Topics are extended. Hence, the course involves more challenging problem-solving.
