Course description

ELA 1 is a beginner's level course for students who have no or very little knowledge of the English language. This course focuses on introducing everyday expressions and basic phrases intended for beginner level students of English. Content includes understanding and applying frequently used expressions, communicating in simple words and phrases, and interacting efficiently and purposefully using relevant information. Language development is combined with vocabulary building and fundamental grammar concepts including the introduction and application of basic grammar tenses in speaking and writing.  Grammar is consolidated in combination with fiction and non-fiction reading comprehension, as well as writing. Emphasis is placed on all four domains, reading, speaking, listening and writing. The course prepares students with skills corresponding to the A1-A2 level of CEFR.

  • Summer 2025 Session: June 23 - July 11
