What does it take to be a leader? Interested in Engineering? Explore two options offered this summer by ACS Athens and Widener University.

Changing factors in society have a strong impact on how we lead ourselves and others. In this course, we will examine leadership styles and the personality traits that enable us to implement effective leadership strategies in our social environments. Factors related to managing conflict, communication and decision-making will also be presented, discussed, and practiced.

This two-week university, three-credit course is designed for grades 9-11 students and is offered by Widener University. The course may be taken for university credit or as a non-credit university course earning you one high school elective credit. Classes will be held at Widener and led by university faculty. Students will work on their own leadership development plan. Learning will be supplemented by university-level readings & visits to various landmarks. The university course project for credit is completed in The Incubator of the Learning Commons.

Students are introduced to the exciting field of engineering! The following engineering principles will be reviewed and experienced by students: Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Engineering.
