Nikolareli, Ira, Elementary Permanent Substitute Teacher
Ms. Nikolarelis began her studies based on her love and passion for working with children of all ages and becoming a mentor and support system for them.
She has over 20 years of work experience in various but related fields to Education and Psychology. She was born and studied in Chicago, Illinois U.S.A, and completed her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Social Work. She began her career as a Research Assistant for the Institute of Health Research and Policy in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Co-Teacher for college-level Research and Statistics classes. Later she worked for over 5 years as a Program Supervisor and Counselor (holistic psycho/educational approaches) for Hartgrove Behavioral Health Hospitals in Chicago, IL, with children of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and individual differences.
Since her relocation to Greece in 2012 she has worked at American Community Schools of Athens (ACS) as a Shadow Teacher (8 years) and as a Substitute Teacher for 2 years until recently. In addition, at ACS she has also taken the role of an After School Homework Support Instructor and during the summer sessions, the position of Camp Counselor and English Teacher at ACS Summer Camp.
Furthermore, she is also CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certified. In her current position as a Permanent Substitute Teacher, she is hoping to make a positive difference in children’s lives and prepare them to become functioning and accomplished members of a Global society.
