Falidas, Maria, Faculty, Mathematics
Ms. Falidas earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the City University of New York at Queens College. She earned her Master’s degree in Mathematics from the City University of New York at Queens College and her Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the City University of New York at Hunter College.
Ms. Falidas holds a permanent New York State teaching license and she has worked in New York City public and private schools. In addition, she worked as a lecturer for the Mathematics Department at LaGuardia Community College in New York. She holds a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education & Business School. She is a fellow at the ACS Athens Institute and a member of Thales and Friends, a non-profit organization aiming to bridge the chasm between mathematics and other cultural forms.
Ms. Falidas has been a teacher of Mathematics at ACS Athens since 2007 and is an IBO Mathematics Examiner since 2009. At ACS Athens she served as the Division Chair of Mathematics from 2020 to 2024. She is the Founder and Program Content leader of the after school Math Circles program, an innovative program for students training for American and International Mathematics Competitions in grades 2 through 10.
