Role Summary:
The Elementary School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of young learners, fostering a culture of care, inclusion, and wellbeing. This is a maternity leave replacement position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs.

This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality swim instruction for students participating in the after-school program. The instructor will ensure a safe and engaging learning environment while supporting students' development in swimming techniques and water safety skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritizes Safety: Ensures that all safety protocols are strictly implemented at all times
- Supports Instruction: Assists in the instruction of the groups, as needed
- Maintains Program Quality: Supports and maintains the quality standards of the after-school aquatics program
- Manages Equipment: Manages and oversees the inventory and proper use of all swimming equipment
- Assists with Participant Placement: Collaborates with fellow instructors for accurate and appropriate participant placements
- Coordinates with Athletics Office: Collaborates with Athletics Office administrative assistants, as needed
- Works with PE Coaches: Collaborates with Physical Education coaches for class swimming instruction, within working hours
- Maintains Incident Logs: Maintains Logs of incident reports; collaborates with Health Office when needed

- Supports Competitions and events: Assists the Swimming Coordinator in the planning and execution of swimming competitions and events
- Provides Feedback: Provides feedback to students and parents on progress and areas for improvement

Qualifications:
- Education: Physical Education / Sport Science degree (specialty in Swimming)
- Experience: Minimum of one year as a swimming coach; previous experience working with Swimming Academies required.
- Certifications:
- Current certifications in CPR / First Aid
- Current Lifeguard certification
- Other Aquatics related certifications (will be considered)

Basic Function and Scope:
Performs a variety of instructional and support tasks in the school as a substitute teacher in the Elementary School, Middle School or Academy as needed. Functions in the capacity of classroom instructors to teach, support and guide all students based on the lesson plans identified by the regular classroom teacher for the set time of substitution. Additionally, performs supervision duties of students, wherever and whenever necessary.
