IB/High School Math Teacher - 2025-26

Reports to: High School Principal

School Year: 2025-2026

ACS Athens, a student-centered international school, embracing American educational philosophy, principles and values, is seeking to recruit an IB/High School Math Teacher to teach IB/high school students. The teacher reports to the High School Principal.

Duties:

  • Provide learning experiences in all aspects of Math, while creating an environment that is conducive to student learning and involvement;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement the scope and sequence of the curriculum and assessments in support of students’ learning;
  • Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum, provide ongoing feedback, and adjust instruction, materials, and assessments when appropriate; 
  • Evaluate, try innovative approaches, and refine instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies available to teachers, to increase student learning, involvement, and confidence to learn; 
  • Know and use technology in teaching; 
  • Demonstrate appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals and strive to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning; 
  • Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events; 
  • Share responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade/team/department; 
  • Plans, participates, supports co-curricular activities (i.e. performances, parent-teacher conferences) beyond classroom (afterschool);
  • Develop lessons that promote critical thinking, independent learning, and inquiry-based approaches;
  • Collaborate with IB Coordinators and faculty to ensure alignment with IB expectations, including deadlines and curriculum pacing;
  • Participate in IB-specific professional development, workshops, and training to remain up-to-date with IB practices, curriculum changes, and global teaching strategies;
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to teach Math grades 9-12; 
  • IB teaching experience preferred, with a comprehensive understanding of IB Mathematics curriculum, assessment criteria, and examination requirements;
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited college or university, in Math; 
  • Valid Teaching License;
  • At least two years of relevant teaching experience, required;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to students (ages 15 - 18); 
  • Fluency in English;
  • Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies;
  • Prior experience with IB-specific curriculum planning, assessment, and classroom instruction preferred;
  • Display commitment to safeguarding and protection of children.
