Athletic Council & Parent Support
The Athletic Council consists of Varsity athletes nominated by the coaches; they are leaders of the student-athlete population and are instrumental in many organizational aspects of the athletic department, such as tournament assistance, special events assistance, banquet preparation and more.
Coaches nominate their athletes based on the following criteria:
- the athlete must be responsible, academically "fit",
- a leader on and off the playing fields,
- capable of working with others,
- has organizational skills
- is a role model for peers.
The Athletic Council members assist the department in many ways, such as organizing tournaments, managing events, and handling other matters pertaining to the athletic department. Parents of all athletes can assist in various ways. The objectives are to promote the athletic program and other aspects of student activities, to promote good sportsmanship, to promote team and school spirit and to assist the Athletic Director with many facets of event organization.
Additionally, the athletes’ parents are a driving force in fundraising to benefit the athletic program of our school. Food sales during major events, raffle sales, and other special events are the means by which money is raised. All the funds are then allocated towards needs that are prioritized, the Annual Sports Celebration Event being an example of a high-priority event.
