Our Admissions Team
Welcome to the Enrollment Management Office
Dear Parents and Prospective students:
Thank you for your interest in joining the international family of ACS Athens representing more than 60 nationalities. ACS Athens accepts applications throughout the academic year, from students who strive for academic excellence.
Our admissions philosophy acknowledges the different cultural and educational backgrounds of our students; that's why we do our utmost to convey the message of international education to our prospective families by welcoming family visits to our school and offering insight to our unique and innovative educational system and its many choices through meetings with our counselors and academic leaders, when it is appropriate or necessary. Our admissions process, as described below, is reviewed and refined regularly, aiming to accept students based on their academic merit and on a first-come-first-served basis.
We encourage you to contact us via email at acs@acs.gr or call us at 30 210-6070-251 or -273 with your questions about our programs, admission requirements, and the ways we can assist you in the application process.

Admissibility, Testing & Assessments
- Admissibility is determined by considering alignment of the student level with the academic standards of the school. To benefit by the ACS Athens programs optimally, other considerations may include:
- the student academic history from the previous school(s)
- the number of unresolved disciplinary or socio-emotional issues reported by the previous school(s)
- classroom size and space availability in the grade or program
- ACS Athens reserves the right to deny admission to students if the school determines that their needs cannot be met. These include moderate and advanced cognitive and developmental challenges, as well as psychiatric disorders
- All applicants entering Grades 6-12 must take grade level English and Math tests to qualify for admission. Tests are administered: a) on the ACS Athens campus at regular dates or after special appointments, or b) through an online synchronous session. All new students must submit an Application in order to take the Admission Tests.
- The minimum levels of English proficiency by grade, in order for students to be considered for admission, are the following: • Grade 6: Pre Intermediate (CEFR A2) • Grade 7: Pre Intermediate (CEFR A2) • Grade 8: Intermediate (CEFR B1) • Grade 9: Intermediate (CEFR B1) • Grade 10: Upper Intermediate (CEFR B2) • Grades 11-12: Advanced (CEFR C1)
- US High School Diploma: The U.S. Diploma can be awarded to transfer students who have spent a minimum of two (2) years in the American Education system.
- Academic Credit Transfer: Students who transfer into ACS Athens in grades 9 - 10 may transfer up to seven (7) credits per grade level from another institution following the American curriculum.
- IB Diploma Applicants: Eligible applicants are required to fulfill the ACS Athens American High School Diploma credit requirements. Additionally, they need to meet the C1 English Proficiency level to be eligible.
- Testing/Assessment scores in certain grades determine admissibility, placement and course scheduling
- Students entering Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade are assessed by members of the Admissions team, that may include a counselor, and/or a Learning Support specialist, who evaluate them according to developmental benchmarks (early ages), cognitive skills, English language and Math skills.
